Following a short period of exchanges on the subject and considering the content of those exchanges, I submit to you this motion in a hasty way. But I hope that this conveys the urgency of the situation.

The only argument of value in this case is a humanitarian one.

It is understood by us all that it is outside the scope of our normal role and obligations.

It is also understood that we won't be able to always respond in such a manner.

I believe we can add value to our good deed by using this case to hammer in the need for every pilot to make sure he is insured when travelling abroad. (Maybe an article in Air mag).

A non-scientific poll, done in the french speaking pilot community seems to indicate a 70% combined support for options 1 and 2.

Should HPAC make a donation to stranded member pilot (Philippe Chevalier) on a humanitarian basis?

  • A donation matching donations total from individual pilots (5000$) (1)
    • 2007-02-13 22:04:54 Kevin Thomson - Ontario
  • A donation filling the gap between donation total and incurred expenses up to the point of rapatriation in the country (3000$) (4)
    • 2007-02-09 11:28:52 Mike Miller - British Columbia & Yukon
    • 2007-02-11 08:26:01 Michael Fuller - Atlantic Canada
    • 2007-02-13 11:26:19 Domagoj Juretic - Quebec
    • 2007-02-17 19:59:25 Cas Wolan - Saskatchewan
  • No donation at all (1)
    • 2007-02-09 13:36:58 Gerry Grossnegger - Manitoba & Nunavut
  • Did Not Vote (1)
    • Bruce Busby - Alberta & NWT
