Do you approve of HPAC/ACVL offering the following calendar for general sale and for inclusion in the "Welcome Package"?

The "calendar" is defined as the following:

  • 2009 (one year)
  • Large Format (11" X 17")
  • 500 Copies Printed (total "1st run")
  • 350 Copies in English, 150 Copies in French

Bilingual Solution

The best solution in my opinion for the calendars is for it to be bilingual on all the pages except the cover. That can be un-lingual with 150 French covers and 350 English. This is unless my designer can find a creative way to include both "The Call of the Sky" and HPAC spelled out in both languages without it esthetically becoming too congested.

14 Page Calendar

I'm sure we can do a 14 page calendar without it costing too much more, if people want that. I've got the photos, but will have to get two more quotes translated into french. I'll know for sure in a couple of days.

As soon as I get the go ahead, I suggest we start promoting it on our various club websites and via the HPAC email list on Yahoo Groups. I will provide you guys with a .jpg copy of the cover which you can distribute. It will sell itself. We should ask people to order now and send in their cheques to Sam to receive by mail or their regional rep for pickup. I'm away from Victoria right now, but will get right on it as soon as I get back to Victoria Oct 8th. I anticipate it being ready Nov 1st at latest. This is a month later than I had hoped, but there we are.

Cost and Distribution

The printer requires 50% deposit before proceeding. I suggest we charge a flat fee of $20+9 postage and handling. We can include (I'm guessing but will check with Sam) up to three calendars in each envelope so the $9 postage applies once every third calendar. People should be able to buy it directly from their regional rep at the flat fee of $20/calendar with cheques payable to HPAC which we'll send on to Sam. I will keep at least 50 English ones here in BC, 20 for the Island and 30 for the mainland. Each regional rep should say how many of which language they would like to distribute.

Here's the cover, finally. Unless there's a major problem with one of the photos, that's how it will ultimately stand. There are 7 paraglider photos and 5 hang glider photos.

The 14 page option unfortunately can't happen. The cover will have to modified too much and we are too short of time. I'm sorry, I hope no one had their heart set on it.

After hearing from Sam, I believe we should advertise it as such to keep it as simple as possible:

Price of Calendar $20 + $9 postage (up to 5 calendars for one postage price).

Calendars will be available for delivery Nov 1, but please order now if you want to be guaranteed of receiving one. People should pay HPAC directly via cheque or paypal To save postage fees, if you live in the same city as your regional rep, you can buy the calendars directly from him.

I believe we should start promoting this right away so that orders can start rolling in.

Here's the cover I figure we should run for the french version. Each individual month, however, will be bilingual.

The HPAC logo will go on the back of the calendars along with some of the credits.

I don't currently have a high res version of our logo I requested it about 6 months ago to imprint on the trophies but have yet to receive them.

If you know how I can get a high res version of our logo that would be great. I need it today or tomorrow, or it will not make it on the calendar.
