PG Nationals – Mark Dowsett – Lumby

2007 Canadian Paragliding Nationals, June 9th through June 15th, Lumby, BC. FAI Cat. 2

Meet Purpose: Crown the Canadian Paragliding Champion. Lumby is a great place to help all levels of pilots gain an understanding of racing.

Entry fee (Includes Team Fee): $175 before May 1, $200 after May 1.

- the competition - June 9th through June 15th (Sun to Fri) - SEVEN DAYS
- registration deadline - June 9th
- mandatory pilots' briefing(s) - daily at the Blue Ox Pub - for scoring, weather briefing, previous day review
- registration opens: as soon as meet is approved from HPAC
- Rain dates or other contingency plans - no rain days, no rest days.

Tasks: Race to goal via turnpoints.

Minimum and maximum number of rounds: Maximum number of rounds: SEVEN. Minimum number of rounds to declare a winner/award prizes: 1,000 points for the leading pilot. Validity as per rulebook.

Scoring: GPS verified, scored with CompeGPS / Race (version TBA)

Pilot Cap (Maximum): 80.

Rulebook: 2007 HPAC/Vol Libre, in conjunction with the FAI sporting code.

GPS requirements or other scoring requirements:
CompeGPS compatible GPS receiver
3D GPS mandatory - that records altitude to prove that you avoid restricted airspace and cloud flying


PG Nationals – Will Gadd – Golden

2007 Canadian Paragliding Nationals, July 29th through August 4th, Golden, BC. FAI Cat. 2

Meet Purpose: A high-level meet with an emphasis on developing new competition pilots. The top scoring pilot from each day will be required to teach an open clinic the next morning. Various pilots will also be invited to give seminars on GPS, tactics, XC landing, etc. I'd also like to use a "mentor" system similar to that at the Rat Race.

Organizer: Will Gadd (with assistance from Nicole, Keith and anyone else who can help!).

Entry fee (Includes Team Fee): $190 before July 1, $225 after July 1.
-Services to be determined, but the Race Willi 2006 will be the minimum. If this bid is accepted I expect to be able to develop some sponsorship assistance for parties and possibly other services such as retrieves

Registration: Registration opens April 15th, registration per rulebook.

Registration Deadline: Sunday June 29th (those wishing to fly in the competition's latter days may do so if there is space).

Mandatory Pilot Meeting: Sunday June 29th 8:00 a.m.

Competition Days: June 29th through August 4th, 2007.

Launch: Mt. 7 Lookout launch is the primary launch, but we may also use upper launch and Mt. Swansea depending on conditions.

Doug Keller:

My personal recommendation is to go with Golden. Lumby just doesn't have a good reputation for consistently good conditions during past Nationals which will hurt attendance and I brought this concern to Mark's attention. I can't remember a good Nationals in Lumby since the '95 HG Nationals. I won't be going to the HG Nationals because of this but if there was a bid for the HG Nationals for Golden I would go.

Will decided to put in a bid for Golden when he heard about Mark wanting to do Lumby again for the same reason.
