We have a new volunteer as Chair for our National Site Preservation and Development Committee. We currently have no other candidates for that position. Margit was approached after our last ADM in BC to try to gage her interest. The interest was there but then she got busy with new BCHPA duties and I got busy as new HPAC president. So here I am bringing up her candidacy.

She is a long time volunteer with the BCHPA, the West Coast Soaring Club and probably many other local organizations. As we all know the issue of site preservation and development as always be the Achile's heel of our sport in BC and this how she developed a unique expertise on the subject. She was also if not the one, among the few who spearheaded the groundbreaking BCHPA study on the impact of our sport on the environment. This study to which HPAC contributed financially has already helped in preservig many sites in BC.

Since there is still a lot to be done like having the study translated in French and trying to figure out if we need to add other sites in Canada for this study to have a truly national value, since site preservation and development will be constant challenges for our sport, we need somebody with foresight on this committee. I believe that Margit is that person and that we would be fortunate to have her.

For all these reasons, I would like to nominate Margit Nance as head of this committee.
