Tim I am ambivalent to your choice ...however...has this task been open to bid?
What amount is the association paying?

Until fairly recently our accountants were only conducting a compilation, and the fee was around $650, which is very reasonable. For the last 2 years HPAC has needed to have a review engagement completed, which involves more work for the accountant, and the fee is now around $1,000. We haven't shopped around lately, but this is still a very low accounting fee. Jorgensen Bickerton is a small firm in Atlantic Canada and they have been serving us well.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the perspective...
If we are getting a 'review engagement' for $1,000. then we are getting value for our money..

I have no wish to denigrate the work of the board..(everybody is quick to complain but slow to volunteer) but it does seem that the cost of the 'administration...seems to be getting
a little top heavy!
Is the 'head office' simply growing and becoming a self propogating organization (phrased awkwardly..but)?

I was surprised to see that we are paying the administrator $3,000.00 per month for which is essentially a part time job.
We have less than 1,000 members and our membership renewals are not even being monitored ????

Who went to the USHGA meetings, why, and was there any reports generated for the general membership?

The $10,000.00 blown on the Web site (I understand that the chosen web designer...offloaded the actual task to a Romanian (?) worker... short changed her, and then subsequently tried to extract more money from the Assoc.)
Was there due diligence? Was there any oversight of the design progress PRIOR to chucking $10,000 out the window?
I know this sounds unduly harsh but essentially $10.00 was taken from each and every member and squandered?

AND

I understand that Dan Hill in Cochrane (who is the principal in a very successful web design company...even has Disney as a client!)
is willing to provide a web program that would be suitable for the Assoc. GRATIS!
That would remove $24,000 from the deposit..???

Not a pleasant note..but I am a grumpy old man!
